Sketchbook // nature journal palettes and layout

This workshop with Kristin Link (a virtual field trip to Alaska’s Alpine tundra: how to simplify complex landscapes) explored recirding different metadata, page layouts, a proportional sort of swatch-making, and then versions of sketches that she put in her notebook. I took a lot of notes rather than trying to practice painting along.

It was interesting to watch her do loose but small sketches of a large landscape space, zoom in on some of the features that she really enjoyed examining, like small plants, then zoom back out for a larger or more detailed landscape sketch.
