WIP Bird stamps

Making more!

Memorial Day weekend here in Vermont is also Spring Open Studio Weekend. Since part of my work is at a museum of wood-carved birds, carving a bird in rubber stamp material was my not-quite-a-demo activity for an hour at the front desk.

Sometimes we do soap carving activities (fun! bubbly clean up!); sometimes we have wood carving  classes (there’s one June 22); and sometimes we hang out in the workshop and do a proper demo (staff time permitting).

I made stamp cards (set of 5 cards, just 1 bird) of the chickadee and barred owl and put them in the Museum gift shop.  Right away they sold, and the person that purchased them sent me some friendly and useful feedback and suggestions for more birds. That’s where this Great Blue Heron and Rose-breasted Grosbeak came from. There’s a Raven in progress too…
